The installation will allow you to install MSDE 2000 if you do not already have SQL Server 2000 or MSDE 2000 on your network.  Please see the section below for more information on SQL Server or MSDE.

Notes About Evaluation Version

This version is identical to our current release, except that we have provided you with an evaluation login for data access.

The evaluation login limits the data download (manhours, physical properties) to Carbon Steel and sizes of pipe <300mm.

CostEng Estimating is a true multi user system and uses Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or Microsoft MSDE 2000 as its database storage engine.  These are both enterprise class database systems, and that ensures that you get the best reliability and flexibility when deploying your system.  If your organisation has a license for Microsoft SQL Server 2000, then you can install the database onto your existing SQL Server.  If you do not wish to purchase SQL Server 2000, then you can use the free version of SQL Server 2000, known as MSDE 2000.  MSDE 2000 limits you to database sizes of 2GB, but in almost all circumstances MSDE 2000 will be an excellent solution.

CostEng Estimating also runs on the Microsoft .Net Framework.  The installation will check to see if you need to install the .Net framework as the framework may have already been installed by other applications.  If the framework is not installed, then it can be downloaded from Windows Update or you can download it from Microsoft from the following locations
